NEWS @ "UGNAYANG KO-OP.." DZRB 738 AM, SEPT. 21, 1-3 PM





Following is a preview of the "Ko-op Balita", a round up of news on cooperatives, for the Sept. 21 (Sun.), 1-3 p.m. edition of "Ugnayang Kooperatiba Para sa Bayan, Sa Radyo ng Bayan", aired every Sunday over DZRB 738 AM, Radyo ng Bayan.



1.  6 CO-OP BANKS MERGE.

      Last September 8, 2014, the Network Consolidated Cooperative Bank formally opened, emerging from the consolidation of the following banks:

       Cooperative Bank of Agusan del Sur; Cooperative Bank of Camarines Norte; Cooperative Bank of Leyte; Capiz Settlers Cooperative Rural Bank; Sorsogon Provincial Cooperative Bank; and Southern Leyte Cooperative Bank.

      NATCCO was the "Stategic Third Party Investor", which promised not only to infuse fresh capital, but also to provide a linkage with other cooperatives and source market for the Network Consolidated Cooperative Bank.


2.  COOP PARTYLIST REPS. HAILED
     AS "FREEDOM OF INFO" BILL CHAMPIONS.

    The "Right to Know, Right Now" Coalition in the House of Representatives, has hailed COOP-NATCCO Partylist Rep. Cresente C. Paez, and Rep. Anthony Bravo, as Freedom of Information Bill "champions", for authoring and supporting, along with over a dozen other Congressmen, the FOI Bill, in the House of Representatives.


3.  METRO MANILA CO-OPS TO HOLD
     CONGRESS, SEPT. 26.

     The status of cooperatives in Metro Manila, and the launching of the development plans of various cooperative sectors in the National Capital Region will be among highlights of the "1st Metro Manila Cooperative Congress".

     This will be held on September 26 at One Esplanade, MOA Complex, Pasay City, to be spearheaded by the Cooperative Development Authority-Manila Extension Office; the Regional Cooperative Development Council-NCR; and by the Metro Manila Association of Cooperative Development Officers.

     This will also be the venue for the awarding of Gawad Parangal for the winning cooperatives in Metro Manila.


4.  CO-OP MONTH CELEBRATION
     READIED FOR OCTOBER

     Preparations are all set for the annual celebration nationwide of 2014 Cooperative Month this October.

     The Cooperative Development Authority has revealed this year's celebration theme:  "KOOPERATIBA:  Maaasahan sa Pagsulong ng Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan ng Bansa."

     Among the highlights of the celebration is the holding of the 12th National Cooperative Summit on October 16-18, 2014 at Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu, where some 4,000 delegates from cooperatives nationwide will converge.


5.  NAPC'S CO-OP COUNCIL SETS
     GENERAL ASSEMBLY, OCT. 27.

     New set of officers of the Cooperative Council of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) will be elected and a New Agenda will be rolled out during the General Assembly scheduled to be held at Crown Galleria Hotel, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong,Metro Manila.

    Led by Daniel R. Ang, the Cooperative Council, has 25 members representing all regions of the country, including major cooperative organizations, and is one of the 14 basic sectors represented in NAPC, which coordinates the implementation of the country's anti-poverty program.
