COOP-NATCCO, CDA SET CO-OP TAX FORUMS
Earlier in this blog, I wrote about the proposal of COOP-NATCCO Party List Rep. CRESENTE C. PAEZ's for the creation of a Cooperative Tax Exemption Advisory Council (CTEAC).
The need for the setting up of such a multi-sectoral group to assist cooperatives in their procedural compliance in their availment of their tax exemption privileges accorded them under R.A. 9520 and other preceding legislations, came about during the series of roadshow-consultations held nationwide by the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Cooperatives, on the Amended Implementing Rules and Regulations of R.A. 9520.
Rep. Paez, who is among those who spearheaded the promulgation of the Amended IRR, together with Senate leaders, as well as officers of the Cooperative Development Authority and the cooperative sector, saw the recurring tax issues raised by cooperators and the need to address them.
I have received information that a tentative schedule of such series of tax forums has been set up. Accordingly, this will be launched with a Co-op Tax Forum for Federations/Unions, scheduled on August 19, at Philamlife, Makati City.
Another one, for primary cooperatives is set on Aug. 20, with the venue still to be finalized. Also, there will be a Coop Tax Forum on September 4, 2015 for primary cooperatives in Luzon; on September 11, for primaries in the Visayas; and on September 18, for primary cooperatives in Mindanao.
This will be undertaken in coordination with COOP NATCCO, and the Cooperative Development Authority, jointly with leaders of the cooperative sector.
Watch out for more details, to be announced soon. (END).
