COOP NATCCO BACKS LP
Coop Natcco, the party-list arm of the country's biggest co-op federation, National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO), has expressed its support behind the Liberal Party's Daang Matuwid tandem of Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo in the 2016 elections.
Coop Natcco's national directorate officers made the pledge of support when it signed with LP a Memorandum of Understanding last November 30, 2015 at the LP headquarters in Cubao, Quezon City.
NATCCO, according to its website, is the biggest federation of cooperatives in the Philippines in terms of membership, geographical reach, financial capacity and array of services extended to its members.
It has up to 3.3-million individual members, coming from 612 rural and urban-based cooperatives. It has 1,132 offices, present in 77 provinces and 129 cities and has consolidated assets of more than P86-billion, according to the website.
Earlier, LP adopted Rep. Cresente "MR. CO-OP" Paez as one of its senatorial candidates, representing the cooperative sector.
Daang Matuwid Standard bearer, Mar Roxas personally attended the ceremony in order to express his gratitude to Coop Natcco Party-list for its all-out support in the upcoming polls.
"Nais kong paratingin ang amin pong lubos na pasasalamat sa partido Coop Natcco, na tinanggap po ninyo ang aming imbitasyon na magkasama tayo at sabay nating isusulong ang Tuwid na Daan sa darating na halalan. Maraming maraming salamat sa inyong lahat," Roxas told the audience.
Rep. Cresente Paez, one of the frontliners and champions of Coop Natcco, who is running for Senator in the LP ticket, also thanked Roxas for giving him the opportunity to represent the cooperative movement in the Senate.
"President Mar, the fact that you have included me in your senatorial slate, panalo na raw ang co-op sector. At marami rin ang nagsasabi na - the co-op sector in this country, comprising 24, 000 cooperatives at 13 million members- is a sleeping giant, in political terms. Ginising mo kami, Secretary Mar Roxas. You have given the co-op sector the opportunity to be represented in the Senate, and for this reason, we will give you our numbers," Rep. Paez said.
"You have made history by being part of this senate slate, not as a junior partner of LP, but as a full-fledged partner and katuwang ng ating movement," Roxas replied. "Your accomplishments, your dedication, your commitment speak for itself. Not much more about it, nandyan na yan. I am proud to campaign for you all over the country, Cris Paez, for Senator." (END).
